Testing Info

Do you need to take the Compass Placement Test? If you have taken the ACT or SAT test then you MAY not have to take the Compass test.

If you meet the scores below then you may skip the Compass test:

ACT:

  • Math score of 22 or higher.
  • Reading score of 18 or higher.
  • Writing score of 18 or higher.
  • Composite score of 22 or higher.

SAT:

  • Math score of 510 or higher.
  • Reading score of 510 or higher.
  • Writing score of 510 or higher.

The highest English course you can be placed into, based on your ACT or SAT scores, is ENG 100. The highest Math course you may take, based on your ACT or SAT scores, is MATH 100 or MATH 103. If you would like to place into a higher math course, then you must complete the Compass Placement Test. You may submit an unofficial copy of your ACT or SAT scores to the Kekaulike Information and Service Center by mail or in person to Kekaulike Information and Service Center, 4303 Diamond Head Road, Ilima Building, Room 102, Honolulu, Hawaii 96816; by fax to (80)-734-9896.
